Fellow Bloggers: Care to continue this?

more to the madness...

So, I've been busy (what else is new) and I'm a little behind in my posts. The other day I was taking care of my neices and nephews and here are a couple of pics.

Also, cousins Frank & Damaris from Paraguay came for a visit. so we went out to a Thai restaurant (Sahla Thai) in St. Catharines. I love the food there and so did everyone else. After that we went to Lee & Marion's house for some Toblerone fondu (really, really, really yummy). Let's see, there's Dennis & Mardi, Lee & Marion, Frank & Damaris and me. We are all some how related and connected through Paraguay (I'll spare you the confusing details).

Anyhow, I gotta keep moving. But I'll try and fill you in with more details later.

a lesson in sincerity

So, some of you may know that I am a Sunday School teacher at my church. Last Sunday (Feb. 4) our lesson was on sincerity. Our verse was:
"Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says." James 1:22
Well, when we got to the gym, there was a surprise for the students. Someone had arranged for a viewing of several different tropical birds (like parrots) who can mimic sounds and imitate voices. It was very interesting to see the birds and I'm sure it's a lesson that will be remembered by the children. I thought I'd share some of the photos I took.

time for midterms :S

I guess it’s that time again… time to update my blog. Things here are going well. It’s still cold – but that means the grapes are getting pressed. There’s still snow – but that means my nieces can play outside. There are still classes – but that means I’m closer to the end of the school year. I can’t believe it’s already February 9. Midterms start next week and I don’t feel like I’m prepared in any way, shape or form. Wow! I guess I should get studying instead of updating my blog. See ya…

Cold carnival at Virgil school

Virgil School student Kaityn Wiens
has fun catching a snowball
during a winter activity
last Friday morning.
The spirit of winter was in the air last Friday at Virgil Public School as the school hosted its first Carnaval d'hiver (Winter Carnival) in the playground.

Similar to the Carnaval de Quebec, a 17-day outdoor carnival held the last Friday of January, Virgil's carnival featured a slew of winter activities including simulated canoe races, ice slides, snow sculptures, races and a tug of war. Students and teachers enjoyed the nice break from classes to play in the snow and learn about Quebec culture.

After rotating each event, the students warmed up with hot chocolate and Tim Hortons Timbits.
